An American/ German family living in Dallas, Texas is looking for a qualified nanny to help care for their 2 year-old and 8-month-old twins. The family currently employs two nannies but one is leaving and the family would now like to introduce a nanny who can assist with child development and sleep training.

The candidate will be responsible for arranging daily developmental activities appropriate for the children’s age and stage of learning including: reading, writing, sensory activities, gross and fine motor skill development, language development, independent and group play, park outings, swim and other class outings, exercise and healthy diverse food offerings. Sleep training skills would be a big plus, as well as all standard nannying duties.

The candidate will be in charge of the children’s schedule for the day. Currently the children’s wake up time varies and they sleep by 8pm. The older child is in pre-school for half the day on weekdays, so during the time he is in school the nanny would only have the twins. The toddler loves driving, hands on activities, mechanical learning, music, swimming and dance. The twins love going outside and being introduced to new places and scenery.

The family travels within the US and abroad and the nanny should be able to accompany the family for travel. If the children stay home then the nanny would stay home with them.

This is a live-in position with meals provided. Annual holiday time can be planned in advance in accordance with the other nanny.

The candidate:

The ideal candidate will be fun, active, sporty, and have a ‘can-do’ attitude. Flexibility, an engaging personality, and a willingness to commit to a long-term position with the family are crucial.

The nanny should have suitable qualifications in childcare or education and at least 3 years’ experience working with families in a similar role, as well as a nice energy to bring to the house and be a good role model for the kids.

The family would like to employ a well-qualified nanny with a background in child development and the ability to help promote a safe and nurturing environment with ‘loving discipline’ for their children; helping them to process their emotions as they grow. A candidate who lives a healthy and active lifestyle would be welcomed.

The candidate should be mature but comfortable manoeuvring double strollers and large wagons in and out of the car, able to carry the children for long periods of time and quick to react to protect the children in the case they are putting themselves in danger.

Ideally, the family would love to find a musician who can play around the kids and eventually teach them an instrument such as piano or guitar. Additionally, someone who can organise group fitness such as baby/ kids’ yoga or later meditation would be wonderful, to help establish healthy habits early on. Knowledge of German would be a bonus.

A driver’s license and safe driving record would be plus.

The family has a dog, so the candidate should be comfortable with animals.

The offer:

$1500-$2000 per week gross salary

Live-in position with food provided

Work transport costs covered

Vacation time – 2 weeks per annum to be agreed with the other nanny
