EED is delighted to be representing a private family based in Jupiter, Florida, seeking an exceptional full-time Governess for their 12-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. Childcare is the clear priority. This is a governess-style role rather than a young-child-focused nanny position, centred on academic support, life skills and genuine companionship as the twins head into their teenage years.
Day to day, the role covers school runs (approximately 30 minutes each way) and after-school activities, including tennis, along with encouraging outdoor activity and sport more broadly. The family wants someone proactive who helps the twins build real life skills and independence (chores, upskilling, responsibility) rather than someone who simply supervises. Support with academics is a genuine plus.
The role can include some household tasks when the children aren’t around, such as cooking, cleaning, bills and laundry. However, the family’s clear preference is for the Governess to focus on higher-value time with the twins rather than general housework where possible. The role sits within a small household team, so the ability to coordinate well with others matters.
The position is live-out. The family may provide separate accommodation, such as an apartment nearby, to be confirmed once the right candidate has been identified. The children speak English and Spanish; Spanish is not required for the role.
Key Responsibilities
- School runs (approx. 30 minutes each way) and after-school activities, including tennis
- Encouraging outdoor activity and sport, and joining in
- Building life skills, responsibility and independence: chores, upskilling and good habits
- Academic support and homework help
- Providing genuine companionship as the twins move into their teenage years
- Light household tasks when the children aren’t around (cooking, cleaning, bills, laundry)
- Coordinating with the wider household team
Candidate Requirements
- Right to work in the United States (essential)
- Full, clean driving licence, confident with regular school-run driving
- Genuinely sporty and active, able to encourage and join in with outdoor activity and sport
- Well organised, reliable and proactive, comfortable working within a small household team
- Strong focus on building life skills, responsibility and independence in pre-teens
- Comfortable with a flexible, full-time schedule that may include some household tasks
- Available for an ASAP start
- Excellent, verifiable references
- Academic support or tutoring background strongly preferred
- Prior experience with twins or multiple children of a similar age strongly preferred
The Offer
- Salary: from $200,000 per annum
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, with on-call flexibility
- Live-out, with separate accommodation (e.g. a nearby apartment) potentially provided by the family
- Based in Jupiter, Florida
- Start date: ASAP
