We are seeking an SEN specialist to work with a lovely family in Antalya, Turkey, starting ASAP.
The ideal candidate would be a qualified teacher with experience in Special Educational Needs. Past working experience in an international position or working within a private family role as a governor or governess would be preferable. Experience working with students/ charges with cerebral palsy would be advantageous.
The family are looking for a young and active individual who can support their son in his day to day activities. Working together with a local carer to promote ongoing learning and academic development. In addition to providing daily support to encourage their charge to be as independent and outgoing as possible.
The role:
Key responsibilities of the candidate:
-Focus upon the development and day-to-day delivery of a programme to provide personalised learning opportunities and autonomous care for a young adult mate.
-To provide physical and communication support using modes of communication appropriate to the individual needs of the charge, enabling full access to his environment.
-To provide support in a manner which facilitates the charge’s cognitive development by removing barriers to learning.
-To ensure the physical welfare and assist the charge with physical needs as appropriate, and agreed, e.g. assisting with lifting, moving and handling, personal care.
-To clarify, modify and adapt tasks, and expected performance outcomes to an appropriate level according to need.
-To design, coordinate, implement and evaluate engaging activities that promote the charge’s independence skills in communication, learning and social skills.
-To develop and/or purchase appropriate teaching and learning materials; provide supporting budgetary information.
-To research, purchase, maintain and monitor the use of specialist equipment and promote optimum use of specialist equipment in all settings; provide supporting budgetary information.
-Contribute to setting individual targets and to the review of those targets.
-To liaise with professionals and external agencies where necessary.
-To develop and maintain Equality and Equity standards, policies and procedures.
-To undertake relevant training as part of continuing professional development.
-To provide ongoing guidance and training to subordinates.
-To prepare and conduct performance reviews of any subordinate colleagues.
The right candidate should have:
-A Post Graduate or Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a closely related field.
-Seven years’ relevant working experience.
-Experience working with young people with cerebral palsy.
-Evidence of ongoing professional development.
-Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

High negotiable salary from 1300 Euro p/w
