Full-time governess after school and weekends in Holland Park, London, Ref.FG4021

11th July 2022 eed_adminJobs

A kind and friendly family living in Holland Park is looking for a full-time governess to join the family. The family have 2 girls who require care and academic support. The girls are aged 6 and 9, and going into years 2 and 5 at a school in Chelsea in September. There is another 17-year old daughter who is mostly independent.

The family are looking for a governess who speaks native-level English and who can support the girls with learning English and with school homework. They already employ a driver, a housekeeper and a chef, as well as tutors who come to teach the girls after school. The role will therefore be focused on homework support, reading, coordinating with school teachers and taking the girls to and from after-school activities with the driver.

The family would ideally like the candidate to work 6 days/ week, with Sundays off. This would include after-school care and tutoring, and then spending the night at the family home Friday and Saturday evenings or if the mother is away travelling, although this is negotiable. It would be possible for the right candidate to negotiate some extra days off to allow for downtime to relax when not at work.

A typical weekday would involve picking the girls up from school, getting them ready for bed etc. and finishing at around 21:30. When the mother is travelling the role would be more live-in focused and involve getting the girls ready for school in the mornings too. A few days a week the family may ask the candidate to come in a little earlier, around midday, to sort out activities or other matters related to the children such as running errands, buying things they need for school, presents etc.

The candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a background in teaching or education, native-level English and experience working within a private family household. The governess will also ideally have experience working in a fully-staffed home.

The candidate should be ready to travel with the family during school holidays, as the family often visit the South of France in summer and other European destinations, Dubai etc.

The candidate should be a good role model ready to make a long-term working commitment. Excellent references and a clean background check are required.
